2. Client Computer

On a LAN network, a client computer is needed as the main device to communicate with each other, a client computer is a computer that will receive services from a server computer that has been provided previously.

3. Network Interface Card (NIC).

NIC is a network device that serves as an interface from the network cable to the computer. There are 2 types of NIC on a computer network.

Physical NIC

Is a physical NIC or hardware that is used on a computer to connect to a network, usually this NIC is located on the motherboard with a certain type of port such as an RJ-45 port and is located on the back panel of a personal computer motherboard.

Logical NIC

A card that does not have a physical form or hardware but a NIC that uses software as a virtual NIC.

4. UTP Cable or Unheld Twister Pair

This type of UTP cable is used in LAN networks with a STAR topology, as a data communication path on a network, or as a transmission medium from one computer to another.

5. Switch or Hub

Software is software that is used to connect hardware to the system or with other software. Software can identify programs that exist on the computer, and can translate commands that are in machine language form.

On a LAN network there are 2 types of software, namely:

1. Operating System

Operating system To build a LAN network, the operating system is a must, the server that we use must of course have an operating system installed that suits our needs. In setting up a LAN network, the operating system commonly used is the Windows or Linux operating system.

Client Operating System

The operating system used is an operating system that is simpler than the operating system used by the server. Most users or network clients use Windows operating system.

LAN Network Design

In creating a network, a good and clear design is needed so that it is easy to install. Network design is also known as network topology. In the installation process, topology is very helpful because it serves as a reference for configuring and installing devices on the network. And it is also very helpful if there is troubleshooting on the network that we make to make it easy to repair and maintain the network.
